Thought I should mention

This is another one of those talks that I have to warn people in advance because it WILL offend some people especially those of you who consider yourselves better or Holier than thou.
A mate of mine mentioned something interesting today about being “smart”. He was in a situation where he was listening to music with a book in front of him when his roommate told him that since its exam week he should switch off the music and concentrate on what he was doing. Apparently for you to be smart you must be all about the books, no fun and what not. WRONG. Here is the reality to each his/her own. There is a difference between getting the high grades and succeeding in life. Here is an interesting fact Albert Einstein was a HIGH SCHOOL DROP OUT. But look at what he contributed to life. The thing is just because you get excellent grades and all those academic honors in reality you really are not that much better than me. Trust me I know people who were or are numero Uno in their classes but they can’t do shit in the real world. Just because your grades are magnificent that doesn’t mean that once you are done with school you are guranteed to be all that once you graduate.
Also I know guys who never really made it all that well in school or some who dropped out (e.g. Bill Gates) who have made it big in life. You see even when applying for a job people ask about work experience actually there are some jobs that require work experience otherwise you are under qualified (regardless of the honors degree/masters you possess). Don’t get me wrong people education is important that’s a fact but that doesn’t mean that cause you are the first in class means you are going to be top honcho when you done in school
Besides let’s be realistic most of the exams and tests we do here (Africa) are standardized thus limiting some of the students from shinning or excelling to their full potential. Furthermore we judge a person intelligence from those tests meaning those with low marks are considered stupid or dumb which may not be the case since those tests don’t test aptitude or the IQ of the people. And in some cases you find those kids who don’t do well actually have a learning disability and we label them as idiots while in actuality we should be encouraging them and trying to give them the motivation and push to better themselves.
. So there are those who due to what so ever reason (parent’s cash, cars, family names, clothes those kind of things) think of themselves higher than others. Always commenting about others in a negative way and joking at people. Thinking and saying they are above others and everything. Well. . . . News Flash you dumb twats we are in the same flipping Uni so if you are so much better than me why are we in the same place again. Could it be you flanked out of those cool Universities out of Kenya or possibly are not trusted enough to be too far from home cause you are irresponsible, immature, or are you just a want to be. Making yourself seem better than others just to mask and cover your own shortcomings?
Another are the religious groups. Those little sects that tell you how unholy you are that they are better than you since they follow in this righteous path and so on. Some of them are actually really awesome people who try and help others. Truly and honestly but others. . . . . . Well they nothing more than pains in the ass. As in seriously who are you to pass judgment on me. I doubt if any religion (not the ones I have been exposed to) gives you the right to point your finger at me. Yes I may do wrong instead of condoning me doesn’t your holy book or scriptures tell you to help instead. Your own sins you find justification for but others peoples well those are blown into insane proportions.
Lastly is that some people think they are better than others cause they give money for aid and charity. Now don’t get me wrong this is a good thing and I encourage it. But I mean those people who only give money, get their name mentioned and that’s that. They don’t even care what they are giving the money for it just matters they get mentioned and so on. I give the little I have but when it comes to orphans for instance don’t you think that sacrificing your own time to go volunteer at the homes, playing with the children would be better. Now in regards to the kind of people I mentioned earlier they seem to think that they give to the needy because the needy are beneath them so that’s why they won’t give anything more than money or be caught dead helping them. Give cause of an open heart not cause of what you personaly receive from it. Anyways that’s about it for now.
